15 holes and Christmas Lunch
What a beautiful day it was for the above competition and festivities. 30 ladies took to the fairways in groups of 3, all wearing their Christmas jumpers, for a fun BAM format. Lunch was delayed due to other festive bookings in the Clubhouse and after a diplomatic conversation with Zac, Linda negotiated a glass of Prosecco and chocolate brownie for everyone!! We all enjoyed a lovely Lasagne, salad and garlic bread lunch with everyone wearing their festive jumpers and christmas hats! We welcomed Martha back into the fold, who played 9 holes with Gwen. The winning team were Pauline, Suzie and Anne B with 76 points, close runners-up were Jackie Hammer, Denise and Sandy, 75 points. The festivities were rounded up with Morag thanking everyone for making her year such a success and just in case she missed seeing anyone before Christmas, wished everyone a 'Happy Christmas and Healthy New Year'. We too thank you Morag for all your efforts this year, not an easy job and can be sometimes frustrating......however, you can now look forward to your lovely break in New Zealand.
Happy golfing days ahead for all in 2019, what a great ladies section we have and long may it last......

Pavenham Park Christmas Open 2018
It was looking doubtful that the rain would clear for the ladies Christmas Open, however after playing just over one hole in the rain the skies cleared and the rain stopped!! As is customary teams enjoyed the traditional half-way house while crossing over from the 9th and 18th greens, and many thanks to Gwen, Jan and Sue for their help with this. Thanks also to Joe Ashby and Bob Birch for selling raffle tickets, over £400 was raised for Arthritis UK. 100 ladies sat down to a lovely Christmas dinner produced by Emma and her team, the service was great and their was laughter and merriment throughout the room. Amazingly the four ball from Colmworth GC won the best hat competition again with their home-made Christmas pudding hats! We all tucked into generous portions of Christmas pudding and the wine flowed... Lady Captain Morag thanked her Committee for all their help with preparations, Jean for the lovely table decorations, Lee and the pro shop for sorting the results and Emma and her team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. The prizes were presented and you can view all the results on Masterscoreboard. Our winning home pair with 39 points were Jackie Hughes & Clare Williams, well done ladies (photo on pics page). The home players scores were close with 2nd place on 38 points Jackie Hammer & June, also with 38 points on count-back Suzie & Anne Puzey. Morag thanked everyone in the room for taking part, wished everyone a 'Merry Christmas' and wrapped up the proceedings for 2018. We would like to extend a big thank you to Morag for all her hard work and preparation for this event, great job....

Ladies Presentation Dinner 2018
Another extremely successful Presentation Evening was held on Friday 23rd November. With a welcome drink on arrival, the ladies gathered together before being seated. In between courses we took part in a 'Scottish' themed music quiz, with the Lady Captain's table coming first! Thank you to Jean the beautiful flower arrangements. Suzie broke the exciting news that Kath Caiger had agreed to be her Vice Captain for 2019, great news. Suzie thanked Morag for all her efforts throughout the year and presented her with a gift & card from the ladies section. Having enjoyed the fine fayre supplied by Emma and the excellent service of the team, prize presentations began, photos on pics page, many thanks to Sue B (aka David Bailey - not...) for kindly taking them. The evening concluded with a Scottish dance, performed by groups of three, lots of fun and laughter was had by all. The After Dinner Cup was played the following morning and the winners were Luca and Morag with 43 points, well done...

Ladies Invitation Day - Tuesday 18th September 2018
11 pairs of ladies took to the fairways for the 2018 Ladies Invitation day, we started the day with toasted teacake, tea/coffee which was most enjoyable. The wind blew us around and made the golf a challenge, but it stayed dry and everyone had a great time. Linda and Heather kindly organised the half-way house and raffle and our visitors enjoyed home-made cake and savouries. Karen and Anne Puzey kindly made a fourball with Gwen and her partner. Anne's partner from Aspley Guise & Woburn Sands Golf Club, Sharon Bayton got a 'Hole in One' on the 6th, and kindly treated everyone to Prosecco! We dined in Elgar's Lounge and had a lovely meal with lots of laughter between home players and their visitors. See results of the day below, and photos on pics page...........

Shield 2018 - Update
Millbrook have won the Handicap League in their first year of entering. They currently still have one match to play but have 23 points already. Pavenham Park came 2nd with 21 points, beating The Bedford with 57 legs as opposed to their 45.5! Our teams put up a valiant fight and we will take up the challenge again in 2019. Our Lady Captain Morag would like to thank all those ladies who took part, especially to the 'Shield Virgins' who took to the fairways making their debuts for Pavenham Park, great effort ladies.....

Shield Match v John'O'Gaunt - Away
Sadly the team lost to the JOG ladies 2½ - 4½. Morag would like to thank those ladies who signed up to play, Morag, Anne Beckett, Dawn, Karen, Luca, Jane Bonner and Suzie. Both Aspley Guise and The Millbrook have two matches left to play. Currently we are are the top of the leaderboard, edging the Bedford on legs! However I think our reign as Champions has come to an end, unless both AG and Millbrook lose their matches. So watch this space for a final update.....

Ladies Jolly 13th August - Cotswold Hotel & Spa
12 ladies from Pavenham Park ventured to the above Hotel for an overnight stay including two rounds of golf. Listening to all the feedback it would be fair to say it was a total success. There were a variety of prizes to be won and some extremely good golf was played over the two days. The Hotel was refreshingly modern and the food was well received by all (see pic of proper cheeseboard on pics page..) The ladies made their mark as usual by being rather boisterous (but not in a bad way). Laughter was had by all by those with a balcony and those without!! Some rather bad heads ensued on the Tuesday morning and some individual scores got better and others, much worse. Karen has told me not to let her drink at all next year!! The hospitality during our stay was great and we were all treated to a drink on the house by the owner Glucka Wijesurija (ex Sussex cricketer), who just happened to be sitting with a good friend of his, Gladstone Small (ex England cricketer), Jane and Denise were most impressed... Unfortunately one of our twelve was unable to come due to sickness, and I would like to say Linda you were really missed, you would have been in your element. I would like to thank all the ladies who participated in making it such a memorable occasion. Photos on pics page....

Ladies Presentation Dinner 2018
The Pavenham Park ladies enjoyed each other's company at the Summer Presentation Dinner on Friday 6th July. It was extremely hot, but all the ladies in attendance looked resplendent in their finery. Morag thanked Ann Griffiths for organising the quiz which was on-going throughout the meal. Emma-Lee's team were thanked for the enjoyable meals provided, and as always Jean did beautiful flower arrangements including the 'scottish thistle' for the tables and presentation table. Many ladies received rewards for their efforts out on the fairways. The draw for the Captain v Vice Captain was made for the following morning and the evening closed around 10.30pm. See photos on pics page...
The result of the Captain v Vice Captain was a win for the Vice Captain Suzie Bishop

Ladies Club Championship 2018
Firstly I would like to congratulate the 8 ladies that took part in the above Competition on a weekend of blistering sunshine. It was a shame that there wasn't more uptake but the event was made special nevertheless. There were some very good scores shot over the two days with some handicap cuts ensuing. Many congratulations to our 2018 winners, Nett Champion Karen McCarthy 170 and Imogen Morten-King our Gross Champion scoring an amazing gross 157. See all the results on Master Scoreboard. Tim Martin our Vice President kindly donated two nearest the pin prizes for the Sunday round, these were won by Kath Caiger on the 8th, and Luca on the 16th. Zac very kindly supplied everyone with Pimms on both days which was a very refreshing treat. Well done to all ladies who entered, it is a very prestigious event and hopefully we can encourage a few more ladies to enter next year. See photos on pics page....

Lady Captain's Day 2018
Lady Captain's Day got off to a great start with a breakfast of croissant and fresh fruit. Three balls teed off the 1st and 10th, and many thanks to Stephen Long and David Webb for being our starters for the day. The weather was really kind and it felt great to be out on the fairways. As we all filtered back in from our morning's toil, we were met by a lovely buffet of cold meats, hot new potatoes, salad and french stick.
Before we knew it we were back out for the Bannockburn Team Challenge. This fun format involved wearing a Scottish Tartan tammy (see model on pics page!!) for a whole hole, if you did any of the following: going in a bunker/out of bounds or 3 putting. Great fun was had by all and there were some weary ladies making their way up the 18th fairway after playing 27 holes. We quickly refreshed ourselves and made our way up to Elgar's Lounge for afternoon tea, yummy!!
The morning Stableford winners and Team Challenge winners were as follows:
Afternoon Team Challenge Winners
Other Winners on the day were:
I'm sure you would all like to join me in thanking Morag for putting on such a splendid Lady Captain's Day.
So much effort goes into the organisation of this day and I know Morag was sending texts in the middle of the night with reminders! Morag thanked the ladies Committee for their support, our new Raffle organisers, Denise & Clare, £200 was raised towards this year's Arthritis Charity. As always Jean supplied a beautiful flower arrangement for the presentation table. Morag thanked Emmalee's team for the refreshments and her Mum and daughter for their support throughout the day. We would also like to thank Morag's family who kindly donated the Charity Challenge Hamper packed with all sorts of goodies. Please see Pics page for all the photos...

She has kindly organised this for the last 7 years and for the last 4, has made the lengthy trip from St Just in Cornwall - a 6 hour trip! In her absence yesterday, she generously 'bought the first round' for all the entrants. Results for this see below, see pics page for photo:

CAPTAIN'S DRIVE-IN 2018
The membership of Pavenham Park took to the fairways to support the incoming Captains on Saturday 10th March, Ed Bowden, Morag Stewart and junior Captain, Ethan Russell. It was extremely well supported and proved to be an extremely long round on a very wet course! Our two juniors took 1st and 2nd place with 35 points Luca and 34 Imogen. The Captain's did their customary 'drive-in' and poor Morag got absolutely soaked, but took it in extremely good spirit. See a before the soaking photo on pics page...
